The all-new Ford Maverick is a lot of things — it’s affordable, versatile, family-friendly, and Built Ford Tough®. After the EPA released its final fuel economy figures, the 2022 Ford Maverick can now also lay claim to the most fuel-efficient truck in America.

With its standard 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle full hybrid engine, the 2022 Ford Maverick returns an incredible 42 mpg in the city, 33 mpg on the highway, and 37 mpg combined.[1] That’s not just better than any other truck available today — it’s better than some sedans.

“Our team set out to redefine what a truck could be with Maverick, and we’ve done that with an EPA-estimated 42 mpg city that beats the 2022 Honda Civic 1.5-liter four-cylinder automatic (variable gear ratio) gasoline engine,” said Ford Maverick Chief Engineer Chris Mazur. “At the same time, Maverick offers room for five and plenty of towing and hauling for weekend trips or do-it-yourself projects.”

The 2022 Ford Maverick lives up to its name by doing what you’d expect a Ford truck to do. Even with its impressive fuel economy, the 2022 Ford Maverick hybrid offers 1,500 pounds of payload and 2,000 pounds of towing. It also features the FLEXBED™, a functional 4.5-foot truck bed that offers features ranging from tie-downs to two 12-volt electrical sources.

And if you want the Ford Maverick with the beefier 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine, you’ll still enjoy great fuel efficiency. With front-wheel drive, the Maverick EcoBoost® delivers an EPA-estimated 30 mpg on the highway, while models with all-wheel drive offer 29 mpg on the highway.[2]
