As spring came to a close, Mustang fans received some exciting news. Ford has officially announced that it’s bringing back the iconic Mustang Mach 1 for the 2021 model year. The special edition made its debut this June, marking a triumphant return for an exciting model that’s been on hiatus since 2004.
The new 2021 Mustang Mach 1 features a powerful 5.0-liter V8 under its hood, delivering an estimated 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. A newly-designed front end makes the Mach 1 the most track-ready 5.0-liter Mustang to date.
Its capabilities are further enhanced with Ford Performance parts taken straight from the Mustang Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500 models. The standard Tremec™ 3160 6-speed manual transmission comes from the Shelby GT350, and is paired with the GT350 oil cooler system. There’s also an available 10-speed SelectShift™ designed with an improved torque converter. An available Handling Package provides even greater control at exhilarating speeds.
On the front end, a new fascia and grill make a bold statement while providing better aerodynamics and cooling. The new Mustang Mach 1 pays visual homage to its legacy with familiar-looking, black-accented stripes that run down its hood and sides.
